For over 440 years, the snow-white castle has dominated the town’s skyline and, as Ahrensburg’s landmark, bridges the past and the present.
The museum showcases and preserves this historical heritage, telling the story of life in times long past.
Major festivals and events – from the Summer Cinema and music events to the Castle at Advent – enrich cultural life in Ahrensburg.

Walking Concert
The Wandelkonzert at the Schlossensemble Ahrensburg is now in its eleventh year and this year focuses on a forward-looking theme: ‘Young Talents’. Three concerts, three venues and a shared experience invite the audience to embark on a musical journey of discovery. Ahrensburg Castle, the Castle Church and the Marstall Cultural Centre will serve as stages for up-and-coming artists who are at the start of their careers and will captivate the audience with fresh sounds.
The afternoon concert programme begins at 5 pm simultaneously at all three venues. Subsequent performances take place at hourly intervals. The audience moves between the venues; the order is determined by the ticket
Family tour of the castle
The family tour has something for children and adults alike. It provides answers to children’s questions that will also interest parents and grandparents. There’s something different to discover in every room, so young and old alike can learnt lots of interesting facts about the castle and its inhabitants. The tour also covers how people used to eat, keep warm and dress. The tour is aimed at families with children aged 5 and over.
Dates: Every 2nd and 3rd Sunday of the month, at 2.30 pm

Adults: €13.00,
children aged 4–14: €7
Special family rates: €24.00 for 1 adult and up to 3 children, €32.00 for 2 adults and up to 3 children
The guided tour can only take place if there are at least 6 participants.

Ahrensburg Castle
For 440 years, Ahrensburg Castle has been one of the most beautiful Renaissance castles in Schleswig-Holstein. Over this long period, the castle’s inhabitants have experienced both joy and sorrow, as well as periods of decline and financial hardship alongside times of wealth and splendour.
The castle museum features impressive artefacts spanning a long history, from the Renaissance to Historicism, whilst the modern era is also represented.
